Students, Free Time and Small Business
As students, teenagers in Indonesia have a lot of free time beside their time to school. They do not have many tasks from school. Usually, they use their free time to hang out with their friends or spend it to gather with their family. They can also spend their money to go shop, watching movie, karaoke, or things that can make them happy. But, not all of their activities give them benefit. They have more activities that more beneficial.
As a choice, they can do other things. They can do what they like, but they also get the benefit from it. For example, they can go for sport for their healthy. “Leisure time sports are form of physical activity in leisure under a time perspective. It comprises sport after work, on weekends, in vacations, in retirement, or during periods of unemployment” (Herbert 117). They do not need to practice sport in the expensive place or in the gymnasium. They can go jogging or doing other exercises.
In the other hand, they also can make small business, the most beneficial from the financial side. They can practice it with their family or friends. “Small business is business with relatively little influence in its market” (Ebert 56). So it is easy to enter the small business market although they are still teenager. They do not need to be afraid because they have some criteria to be a small business owner.
There are many choices to make small business owner. They can resell some product and get the profit from the margin of the goods. Or they can make some product by themselves and sell it as brand new. There is not difficult. They can choose what product that they like. For example, someone who loves chocolate so much can make small home industries which produce some variety of chocolate. Or someone who loves soccer so much can sell the soccer uniform of each team to other people that loves soccer too.
Become a reseller is one of the choice of small business. It takes low effort to produce the goods to be sold. They only have to buy the product in grocery store, then repackage or make this goods to be sold attract people to buy the product. They do not need to make something new.
This activity can be alternative to have a beneficial free time. Besides they can spend their free time to positive one, they also get benefit from it. For them who choose to have small business, they will get some additional money from it. They also get the experience of having small business and who knows if from these experiences they will be a real business person.
